 July 2009 - Nr. 7

Planning a trip to Germany, but want to do more than see the country through a tour bus window? Maybe bike, hike, golf or do a bit of rappelling in the Alps while taking in the sights? Do it with the help of the German National Tourist Office’s latest tour guides. A boxed set of nine booklets and three additional, more in-depth guides have just been published, all of them chock-a-block with useful information, lots of action photos and route maps along with detailed descriptions of venues and locations.

Activity Holidays is the name of the boxed set, holding nine separate pocket-size brochures, one of which describes the various activities outlined in the other eight, also locating the best spots for them in Germany on a map. Each individual pamphlet presents a selection of between nine and 16 prime locations for each area of activity, which are:

  • Hiking
  • Cycling
  • Golfing
  • Horseback Riding and Climbing
  • Skiing and Snowboarding
  • Canoeing and Kayaking
  • Nordic Walking
  • Sea and Lakeside Family Playtimes
  • Surfing and Sailboarding

The three additional pocket guides go into much more detail: Seaside, riverside and lakeside family holidays in Germany presents more than 40 different examples on 48 pages; Discover Germany by bike and Walking in Germany each offer 84 pages of examples and logistics information.

Limited quantities of the above can be ordered online free of charge at www.cometogermany.com. Under ‘Brochure Requests’, click on the Canadian flag.
