Winter is coming. The news from Vancouver, Calgary and North Bay
confirm it – there is snow, freezing temperatures and pictures
of people digging their cars from under the snow blanket. In K-W
area only some light snow dust so far, quickly melting and
leaving wet leaves behind.
The TV, radio and newspapers’ advertising is full of news about
Christmas season entertainment and events, concerts, shows and
markets.
Kitchener
Handel’s Messiah – most traditional Christmas celebration –
is performed by Grand Philharmonic Choir in Centre in the Square
on December 11 at 7:30. Pops Series will have concert Men
with Horns Christmas with Children’s Choir and Larry Larson
on trumpet on December 17 and 18, the same concert in Guelph
River Run Centre on December 16.
Rita MacNeil’s Spirit of Christmas with special guest Frank
Mills takes place December 1. John McDermott is sure to bring
some Christmas spirit on December 22 and The Nutcracker
production of Ballet Jörgen Canada will take place on December
28 at 2 pm and again at 7pm.
Guelph
At River Run Centre Messiah will be played by Musica Viva
Orchestra and Chamber Choir with soloists on December 18 at 8
pm.
Guelph Symphony will play Christmas Choral Fantasy
concert with Grand River Chorus on December 12 at 3 pm. The
Wonderful World of Christmas, a tribute to Elvis, is
starring Michael Kabakos who has embodied Priestley for years
and likely for many more to come - on December 11.
Sing-Along Messiah at Massey Hall in
Toronto takes place
December 19 at 2 pm as well – I am sure! – many more Christmas
events and celebrations everywhere!
