Internationale Musikantenparade
This group came back to the Donauschwaben Club, by
popular demand as the last stop on their – six-stop - North
American Tour.
They had been to – mostly Danube Swabian organizations in
Cincinnati; Cleveland; Buffalo-Hamburg; Leamington and
Kitchener.
After a warm welcome by Tony Baumann, Wolfgang
Ribbert, the tour’s organizer sang ‘Heimat Deine Sterne’ and I
noticed some of the guests wiping their eyes. It was another
‘Merchant of Memories’- and they remembered!

The club was almost sold out again, even though it was the
middle of the week. The artists had not been forgotten since
their last engagement at the club, and the audience loved them
again.

The concert started with the “Die Sandler” and their wonderful
rich palette of local renditions - of the distinctive sound of
their home world, dressed in their local costumes, and yes,
yodeling was involved. Some of the best yodeling I ever heard
and, judging by the applause, greatly appreciated by the
audience as well.
Danny Bach was the next performer with an astonishing mellow
voice that engraved itself in the heart of the many enraptured
listeners.
He also gained a number of new ‘groupies’ when he led
a polonaise through the club.

Another one of the highlights this evening was the performance
of Christine Schuhmann and her many songs of the old ‘Heimat’
plus a few of the current hits in Germany that are featured in
the many ‘Hit Parades’ overseas now, some of them totally new to
us locals, but greatly applauded nevertheless.
After a break, halfway through the program, the second half of
the performances seemed even better than the first. It was a
great evening and one that will not be easily forgotten by the
grateful visitors, and worth every dollar of the price of
admission.
As always
