ON THE ROAD WITH KIDS

New brochure – Family Holidays in Germany

Toronto – Germany is perfect for family holidays. Everyone feels at home there, from toddlers to grandparents. Looking for thrills? Come to Germany and discover the fun of it! The variety will surprise you.

Pre-Planned Holiday Routes

Let’s start with Germany’s 150 themed holiday routes criss-crossing the country from the North Sea and the Baltic south to the Alps. We have picked out a special route to show you that touring can be a delight for all ages, suggesting one of the best places for your voyages of discovery: The German Fairytale Route, for example, takes you to the homes of Cinderella and the Bremen Town Musicians. You might even meet Snow -White and the Seven Dwarves in the Weserbergland hills. Fairies, princes and princesses come to life here. This is a tour for everyone who loves fairytales. www.deutsche-maerchenstrasse.de

Along all holiday routes, cultural gems and a multitude of natural wonders are just waiting to be discovered. The routes take you to nature reserves and theme parks, caves and mines, children’s museums and through unspoiled natural scenery. Drive right into a fascinating world of adventure in Germany, where everything you could wish for is close at hand. Have fun and enjoy the ride.

FUN-tastic Travel Tips for Families

The Chocolate Museum in Cologne leads the visitor into the world of cocoa and chocolate. People are taken on a journey through 3,000 years of chocolate’s cultural history. One can watch the production of chocolate and is offered melted chocolate served on cookie wafers at the chocolate fountain. The uniqueness of this museum is that the visitor can not only see but also feel, smell and taste the chocolate. www.schokoladenmuseum.de

Serengeti Park – the safari adventure just south of Hamburg! Four adventure lands will undoubtedly fascinate you: Animal Land, Monkey Land, Leisure Land and Water Land! In Animal Land, you can either drive your own car or ride on a guided Serengeti bus tour. There are 1,000 free-roaming exotic animals in an area of more than 165 ha. On your adventurous 10-kilometre Africa safari you will get a close look at giraffes, white rhinos, camels, lions, tigers, leopards, antelopes, monkeys and more. www.serengeti-park.de

Take a boat trip with one of the oldest and largest Paddle-Steamer fleets in the world and discover the river Elbe a different way. The paddle wheels clatter, the steam engine chuffs and a plume of smoke rises into the air … toot-toot and off you go. The boat rides start from Dresden and other places along the Elbe in Saxony. Before or after your river adventure you should discover the cultural gems of Dresden, climb in the National Park "Saxon Switzerland" or cycle along the river Elbe on the Saxon Wine Route. www.saechsische-dampfschiffahrt.de

Kinderland Bavaria, created just two years ago, is the very first family-friendly holiday brand in Germany. Now it has over 300 partners whose philosophy is to provide top quality family-friendly products, all complying with strict quality control criteria. Finding the perfect family holiday is child’s play: the packages are clearly structured, categorized according to the number of Kinderland bears (like hotel stars) that have been awarded and can be booked directly with the providers. www.kinderland.by

Special accommodation packages

There is an abundance of affordable places to stay with lots to offer, from homely holiday apartments and farm accommodation to scenic campsites and youth hostels, plus, of course, countless hotels that welcome children and babies with open arms. www.familotels.de
