Transylvania Trachtenball

by Herwig Wandschneider

Herwig Wandschneider

Among the German Club festivities in K-W, the Transylvania Trachtenball ranks high on the list. There are several reasons for this: participation by enthusiastic Club Members – particularly those (roughly 80) dressed in their Trachten – quality meals, and impressive dance performances. The event was also the occasion to present Miss Transylvania. For 2005 Bettina Rampelt was elected, following in the footsteps of Stefanie Schmidt, who held this position in 2004. Both competently addressed the audience, not without emotions.

Invited guests were treated to a pre-ball hors d’oeuvres presentation fit for a queen. Chef Zladko Ramic, affectionately known as just "Sigi", presented exceptionally good "leckerbissen" with finesse, care and imagination. And succeeded later in the challenging task of serving an excellent hot meal to the 250 members and guests.

The 30+ member Blaskapelle (under the baton of Ron Schatz this time) seduced the crowd to dance all evening. Including the impressive dance performances by the "Youth Group" and the relatively new "Dance and Sing Group", this evening was a great success, one to look forward to again next year.
