The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir presents Edward Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, a passionate oratorio that provides audiences with an inspiring vision of eternity and faith, Tuesday April 26, 8:00 p.m. The performance will feature Conductor Noel Edison, mezzo-soprano Norine Burgess, tenor Michael Schade and bass-baritone Russell Braun. A pre-concert chat by CBC Radio’s Rick Phillips will take place at 7:00 p.m. The Dream of Gerontius was Elgar’s epic masterpiece, yet remains one of his lesser known works. The Dream of Gerontius was critically acclaimed in Germany in 1902 and helped to launch Elgar’s worldwide success. The Dream of Gerontius takes place at Massey Hall, 178 Victoria Street. Tickets are $35-$70. For tickets, the public can contact Roy Thomson Hall/Massey Hall Box Office at 416-872-4255 or visit www.tmchoir.org for information. The fourth annual Stars In Song Gala fundraising event in support of The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir will be held on Tuesday, April 26th at The Pantages Hotel, 200 Victoria Street at 5:30 p.m. This elegant evening will include a pre and post concert reception, dinner, silent auction and premiere seating for The Dream of Gerontius. Tickets are $250/person and can be purchased by contacting 416-598-0422, ext. 24.
