Toronto’s award-winning WinterCity Festival presented by RBC
returns, offering a city-wide celebration of culture, creativity
and cuisine from January 30 to February 12. This year’s programming
includes the North American premiere of two unique and compelling
open-air performances by Dutch group Close Act. Well-known internationally
for combining theatre, dance acrobatics and music to create large-scale
street theatre spectacles, Close Act returns to Toronto after captivating
audiences in 2005 with their show, Malaya. For 2009, the company
presents the under-water love story Pi-leau, which will dazzle audiences
over two festival weekends starting January 30 at 7 p.m.
"Toronto comes alive with culture every winter as music, theatre,
dance, art, and food take centre stage," said Mayor David Miller.
"The WinterCity Festival encourages residents and tourists to get
out during the coolest months of the year and experience the city’s
vibrancy and urban winter wonders."
A 14-day festival of big city fun,
WinterCity offers 3 festivals
