It rains, it snows,
the sun glows
bright and sometimes hot.
Wind blows
and howls
around the house a lot.
Frost and ice
gather nice
on the inside windowpanes.
Dogs and cats,
kids with hats
walk along the garden lanes.
Branches gather
snow like lather,
squirrels search in vain.
Quiet birds
have no words,
no song to sing for us.
Naked trees
without leafs
stand guard without a fuss.
Rodents sleep
in chimneys deep,
and dream of better times.
Poet thinks
of shorter links
to compose a pretty rhyme.
Inside we huddle,
Sometimes cuddle.
