Residents of Toronto and area have a unique opportunity to
view one of the major attractions of the Cultural Olympiad for
the Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
From October 16 to 18, Quilt of Belonging will be on
exhibition at the Metro Toronto Convention Center graciously
hosted by the creativfestival. This is the last stop before the
Quilt is exhibited in Surrey as part of the Cultural
Olympiad.
This textile mosaic measures 120 feet long by 10 feet tall and
embraces 263 richly hued blocks. These beautifully crafted
blocks portray the cultural legacies of all the First Peoples in
Canada and every nation of the world.
Artist and creator Esther Bryan will be on hand to greet
visitors and to share the many stories of the Quilt. Come
and learn how this stunning human tapestry proves to be a visual
testament of what can be achieved when ordinary people work
together for the good of all.
