Ladies of the Association of Danube Swabians & some of
their spousesWhat started off as a brisk, cool and autumn day in
September, turned into a beautiful Indian summer shopping spree
outing. The ladies from the Donauschwaben Klub along with some
of their spouses, who of course were there to dutifully carry
their ladies’ bags, ventured out to St. Jacobs Market and the
quaint Town of St. Jacobs. The bus load of 45 people left the
Donauschwaben Club at 8:00 a.m. and reached St. Jacobs Market
shortly after 10:00 a.m.
The trip did not appear long at all with "Salz-Kipfel", candies
and coffee cakes distributed throughout the bus, giving everyone
energy for the long shopping day ahead. A good deal of laughter
and jokes furthermore shortened the trip and were enjoyed by
all. Lots of sampling and purchasing wurst and cheese took
place, as well as the plentiful fruits and vegetables, and of
course all kinds of pastries. The vendors at St. Jacobs Market
were more than happy to accommodate this merry group of Danube
Swabians.
Around 1:30 p.m. it was time to get back onto the bus and made
our way to the Town of St. Jacobs, where our men were happy to
find outdoor patios serving beer and the ladies having that
extra scoop of ice cream, while taking in the Indian Summer Sun.
Tiredness overtook some of the revelers, which lead to a few
snoozers on the ride home.
The Shopping Gods were thanked for providing such a beautiful
day, and thanks go to all the ladies that brought coffee cake
and to Lena Forstner and Katie Schwemlein for organizing such a
wonderful trip. Everyone is looking forward to another outing
just like it!
