The NHPPA does not believe that the natural health community needs to settle for the bleak future Health Canada is offering.

To this day, the industry continues to be given minor concessions and messages of positive developments from Health Canada.

The NHPPA does not believe that we can ethically pass this challenge by accepting concessions. Attempting to work with Health Canada and create “a set of rules” in the existing regulatory framework buys into the paradigm that we agree with the NHP Regulations as they are, with “appropriate” modifications. The NHP Regulations have only ever become more fragmented, tightened and onerous. Doing nothing, or trying to achieve minor concessions can only lead to this same result happening that we are all now witnessing.

The natural health community is facing a crisis of belief. It is itself, divided, as to what to do.

Many believe they have to settle for the truncated industry that Health Canada will allow. Many believe that we cannot have a vibrant industry that celebrates innovation and common sense. Many believe that putting vulnerable Canadians at risk as vital health products are taken away cannot be stopped.

The NHPPA does not subscribe to any of these beliefs and has developed a layered initiative:

1. Seek a suspension of Current Regulations;

2. Start court proceedings to have the Natural Health Product Regulations declared unconstitutional

3. Move to have the Charter of Health Freedom enacted

We do not have to settle. We believe we can re-focus and move forward.

We are seeking a substantial initial injection followed by monthly contributions from each of our industry and public supporters that will fund the NHPPA’s 3 Part plan.

These initiatives will be led by NHPPA’s president, Shawn Buckley, who will move an assembled expert legal/constitutional team, members of the NHPPA Board and supporters into a redefining moment to ensure a vibrant future for Canada’s natural health product community.
