If you thought that it is only
important to know what wine goes with what food, then you have
not been to the Bier Markt, a fun place on the Esplanade in
downtown Toronto that boasts a huge selection of different
beers. Every year they also introduce something new to their
offerings, and this spring it was Spaten Bier.
The establishment’s talented chef introduced a medley of
Bavarian foods that went really well with the light blond and
refreshing Spaten Bier all March long in way of a festival that
they called Marchtoberfest. And why not? Hardy food and good
beer is always in season. And while the festival might be over
the fun never stops at Bier Markt. You can check out their
website (http:/thebiermarkt.com
for ongoing activities all year round. The warm weather of
course will open the patio for us hungry
sun seekers. And let me
tell you, there is nothing like a cool blond when the sun is
warming your back.
A knowledgeable staff will be happy to advise you on what foods
to match with
what beers or the other way around. But if you
just want a brew and some fun that is ok too. There are 2 locations, the one at the Esplanade (416-862-7575) and then
there is one at 600 King West (416-862-1175). Call to make your
reservation to some European fun, adapted to a Canadian life
style.
