Post-secondary and high school student filmmakers from across the globe are invited to submit their films.
Final deadline for entries is Friday May 14, 2010.

MISSISAUGA - Are you a student filmmaker in search of an audience? Well, now is the time to show off your cinematic talent at the 4th annual “SPEAK UP! International Student Film Festival”. “SPEAK UP”! is a dedicated festival for all high school and post secondary students, that is now accepting submissions, and it’s FREE to enter! This year’s festival will take place in the heart of Mississauga on Saturday June 12, 2010 at the Living Arts Centre’s RBC Theatre.

Following the festival’s success last year, ``SPEAK UP!`` is pleased to announce its annual event featuring two screenings of outstanding innovative cinema at the Living Arts Centre. Our festival experience opens with an elegant Gala reception followed by day two of our festival program, creative workshops & informative seminars and closing with a snazzy Awards presentation. Students are asked to connect with local musicians or friends to create an original soundtrack since we are emphasizing original music. “SPEAK UP”! is accepting submissions from around globe including all genres, such as: Music video, Documentary, Commercials, Drama, Monologue, Animation, Action, Experimental, Comedy, Sci-fi, PSA, Trailers and Thriller/Horror.

This festival experience is here to educate, honour and acknowledge the importance of student work along with bringing local cinematic talent to the forefront. International student films are accepted and will be included as part of the International category. Rogers TV in Mississauga is a proud partner and will be participating at the event with media coverage giving students the opportunity to be recognized. The Living Arts Centre is also a proud sponsor to contribute workshop and seminar facilities to our event.

SUBMISSION Eligibility:
  • Must be a High School or Post-Secondary Student – Canadian or International

  • (We are also accepting post graduate work up to one year after graduation)

  • Must be 20 minutes or less

SPEAK UP! International Student Film Festival is an annual and local not-for-profit festival. This student film festival is a leading event devoted to promote, celebrate and advance filmmaking talents by showcasing short films & videos in downtown Mississauga. SPEAK UP! also includes meet and greet opportunities, an awards presentation and closing reception. Students will have the chance to network with other filmmakers and meet industry guests.
